Thames Reach has warned that impoverished rough sleepers from Central and Eastern Europe living on London’s streets have been found eating rats and drinking lethal alcoholic hand wash stolen from hospitals.

'Routes Home' for Central and Eastern European homeless
Homelessness charity Thames Reach has teamed up with the Mayor of London to produce an online guide for services that want to help Central and Eastern Europeans sleeping rough on the capital’s streets.
Thames Reach chairman Ken Olisa has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his work in tackling homelessness in London.
Ken Olisa has been chairman of Thames Reach since 1996 during which time the homelessness charity has helped tens of thousands of homeless people to turn their lives around.
The bitter taste of defeat

Keen athletes now have the chance to run the The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon through London’s historic parkland in aid of Thames Reach. The race takes place on Sunday 10 October 2010, which is also the date for World Homeless day. Homelessness charity Thames Reach is calling on the public to help terminally ill former rough sleeper Derrick Riddell get the urgent medical treatment he needs to spend the last few weeks of his life with his family back in his native Jamaica.
