Thames Reach is setting up an employment academy in South London to help hundreds of homeless and unemployed men and women back into work. It will help reduce the number of people sleeping rough in the capital by helping homeless people develop new skills, build their confidence and find a job.
Big Issue founder John Bird joined with Thames Reach in calling for an increase in taxation on super strength lagers in Chancellor Alastair Darling's March budget. This was part of a campaign by the charity to highlight the deaths among the capital's homeless caused by these cheap and readily available drinks.
You can help vulnerable people to rebuild their lives by ordering organic fruit and vegetables from Thames Reach's 'Cabbages and Kings' delivery scheme. Run by people who have experienced homelessness, they can deliver to your home or office each week. The scheme is currently targeting south west London.
The Government recognised the plight of ‘young olds’ in its Places for Change funding programme. The local authority in Lambeth has been given funding for a project helping these vulnerable men and women. This follows Thames Reach's campaign to see the needs of these former rough sleepers addressed.

Two Thames Reach staff members have jumped out of a plane to support homeless and vulnerable people. Petra Salva and Terri Filkins took part in a charity skydive to raise money for both Thames Reach and CRASH, the construction and property industry charity for the homeless.
