Joanna Lumley has given her backing to the 2011 Thames Reach Christmas Appeal raising money for homeless men and women.
The renowned actress and campaigner, who will appear in the BBC’s new Absolutely Fabulous – which is being predicted to top the Christmas Day TV ratings war – has supported the work of homelessness charity Thames Reach for over a decade, and has now become Patron of the 2011 Thames Reach Christmas Appeal.
Joanna Lumley said: “Thames Reach is a dynamic charity committed to transforming the lives of homeless people by giving them a second chance. I’ve seen first-hand the impact that their work has had on men and women who’ve had an unlucky start in life; with the right support they have been able to turn their lives around.
“Please show your generosity and make a contribution this Christmas.”
The 2011 Thames Reach Christmas Appeal campaign material features the lives of homeless people who have got their lives back on track thanks to the work of Thames Reach’s services and staff and volunteers.
Jeremy Swain, Thames Reach’s Chief Executive said: “Help homeless people make a fresh start with their lives this Christmas by making a donation to the 2011 Thames Reach Christmas Appeal.”

Thames Reach is one of the leading homelessness charities in England and runs a range of services across the capital helping some of its most vulnerable people.
The charity helps rough sleepers off the streets, provides accommodation and assistance to homeless men and women in its hostels and supported housing projects and helps people who may be in danger of becoming homeless.
Its teams encourage homeless people to develop new skills, re-engage with family and friends, and get back into work. Last year it helped 8,908 people.
