Terms & Conditions
1. Name of Fundraising Promotion: Text Giving
2. Period: The Text Giving will commence 00:01 on 9th May 2011 and is planned to be available until 13th June 2011. Any entries received outside the Period (for whatever reason) will be invalid but you may still be charged for your text where costs apply.
3. Restrictions:
-
Donations are welcome from all residents of the UK, excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man (due in part to the operating cost in the excluded territories)
-
All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a SMS text message. Please ensure that you do not send more texts than you can afford or your network operator might allow.
-
The text entry method is available to Vodafone, Orange, O2, 3, T-Mobile and Virgin mobile users only.
4. Text Giving – How to Give:
To donate £2.00 via text message you will need to text the keyword home to the shortcode 70099. Please make sure you key-in the shortcode and spell the keyword correctly.
Text messages cost £2 plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates and terms). Your text message will result in a charity donation (rounded to 2 decimal points) to Thames Reach (register number: 24377R) for each successful premium text message delivered.
Each UK mobile network operator now provides charity out payments using the HMRC VAT-inclusive 70099 SMS Short Code. After deducting mobile operators' and billing provider charges from the gross donation the premium SMS reply message will generate a minimum of £1.86 (via 3UK) to the charity. *Please note that our service provider; Cymba do not profit from your donation.
If your keyword and shortcode are valid, and your text message is received within the Period, you will be charged £2 via a bounce-back message. On occasions it may take some time for you to receive the bounce-back ‘thank you’ message. Please wait until you receive it. Proof of text sent is not proof of donation.
The charge will appear on your mobile phone contract bill or be taken from available funds on a non-contract mobile phone (PAYG).
If your keyword or shortcode are invalid, or your text message is received outside the period, you may not receive a bounce-back text but may still be charged your standard network message charge. You will not be charged the £2 entry fee and you will not be donating to Thames Reach.
5. Donation Limitations: There is no maximum number of limitations for text message donations from the same mobile telephone number throughout the period; however daily or weekly premium rate SMS text restrictions may be imposed by your Mobile Network Operator.
The mobile operators reserve the right to disqualify any text that breach rules or are in any way fraudulent, illegible, incomplete or otherwise deficient or inaudible.
6. General Terms and Conditions: Thames Reach, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for: (i) any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded and; any other changes made by the event organisers.
